The Academy of Country Music Honors was a night of recognition, the ceremony celebrating the achievements of some of country's biggest stars. None of them, however, were awarded quite like Lainey Wilson.
The hitmaker was recognized with both the Milestone and Triple Crown awards, the latter honoring a trifecta of wins – New Artist of the Year, Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year – for the star in an impressive amount of time.
There to award the artist was country's buzziest newcomer and Wilson's latest collaborator, Post Malone.
Taking the stage of Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, double-fisting two gilded trophies, Malone surprised the star with the awards.
"Lainey, I had to be here tonight for your big night," he said once his eyes located her among the seated crowd. "I'm so happy to present the ACM Milestone award and the ACM Triple Crown award to the one and only, absolutely stunning Lainey ... um, I'm not going to cuss ... Wilson."
After their quick embrace, Wilson accepted the honors with a speech about her journey to this moment. Taking a trip down ACM memory lane, the star recounted the back-to-back-to-back wins that earned her the Triple Crown, taking home ACM New Female Artist of the Year in 2022, ACM Female Artist of the Year in 2023 and most recently, ACM Entertainer of the Year in 2024.
"Wow, have those 13 years paid off right here in this town," she said. "Thank you so much to the people who make up this community. Thank you to the Academy of Country Music for these incredible honors."
The Academy of Country Music Honors was held on Aug. 21, recorded at the historic Ryman Auditorium to air as a special on Tuesday (Sept. 24).
Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, Chris Stapleton and more were also recognized for their achievements during the night.
