Excitingly, Lainey Wilson has confirmed she's already hard at work on her keenly awaited follow-up to Bell Bottom Country, with the ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ singer-songwriter releasing the project's lead single, ‘Country's Cool Again’, on February 16.
The ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ hitmaker first teased the brand new song back in October 2023, with many fans now speculating that the playful, uptempo anthem will serve as the title-track for the upcoming album. This prediction is strengthened by the fact that Lainey has named her 2024 run of shows ‘The Country's Cool Again Tour’.
Although we're still yet to receive any confirmation of the tracklist or an official release date, Lainey has shared some details regarding what fans can expect from the hotly anticipated new record.
In an interview with People, the ‘Heart Like A Truck’ singer-songwriter revealed that her loyal ‘Fast Lainers’ fanbase can look forward to hearing more love songs on the upcoming project, with Lainey drawing inspiration from her boyfriend of over two years, Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges.
Lainey underlined that she wrote more than 300 songs for her acclaimed and award-winning 2022 album, Bell Bottom Country, even though only 16 ended up making the cut. This was due to a significant portion of the writing period falling during the pandemic, leaving her with more time at home to put her lyrical pen into action.
The country star seems to be tackling her new record with a similar mindset, with Lainey emphasising, “I'm like, 'I need to write 100, 150 songs to choose 12.' I want to show that growth through my lyrics, the singing, the stories, all of it”.
We'll be keeping our ears to the ground for any further details, teasers and news regarding Lainey Wilson's next project. Although much of the album's content remains under wraps, one thing is for certain - it'll once again be full to the brim with country music gold.
