On the two-year anniversary of dropping his haunting, atmospheric collaboration with Maggie Rogers, ‘Dawns’, Zach Bryan has taken to Instagram to reflect on how the duet came about, as well as offering fans some Easter Eggs about the song.
Shortly after releasing his new single, ’Blue Jean Baby’, in celebration of his beloved Philadelphia Eagles booking their spot in the 2025 Super Bowl, the Oklahoma singer-songwriter has reflected on another track he gifted fans after an Eagles victory.
In a new post alongside the alternative cover art for ‘Dawns’, Zach Bryan has reflected, “two years of ‘Dawns’ today which was also released because of an Eagles playoff win”.
He went on to pay tribute to his ‘Dawns’ collaborator, “This was the cover I was originally going to use...Thank you @maggierogers; our friendship is so special to me. You’ve saved me in more ways one and thank you to everyone who listens and listened to this song”. We're hoping the duo have plans to team up for another track in the near future, with ‘Dawns’ showcasing both artists’ abilities to flit between genres, while still holding onto their sense of sincerity throughout the narrative.
The ’Revival’ hitmaker then offered followers an update on his current headspace, and fans will no doubt be relieved to hear Zach Bryan has been feeling content and grateful, despite the criticism he's been receiving on social media in recent months.
Bryan explained, “Life feels sweeter as of lately. Everyday I wake up and am so immensely thankful for every single breath and every single song”, before shedding some light on the fascinatingly unique, DIY creative process behind ‘Dawns’, “This one in particular was recorded in one take on the second story of a home in South Philadelphia into a tascam 8 track machine. The sirens in the song actually happened because I was too dumb to close the windows on a peaceful fall day. You can hear the rolling of my desk chair which I also really enjoyed because you can almost hear the eagerness on the wood to sing into the microphone”.
Zach Bryan concluded, “Love u guys so so much”, with the ‘Something in the Orange’ crooner repeatedly underlining his appreciation for fans that have stuck by him amidst the wave of backlash he's faced in the aftermath of his split from Brianna LaPaglia.
Days after their break-up in November 2024, LaPaglia accused Bryan of emotional abuse and trying to get her to sign a $12 million NDA about their relationship. Since then, the country megastar has been dogged by online chastisement for his alleged behaviour, with Zach Bryan delivering a fierce rebuttal against his detractors earlier in January, hinting they were the reason he's not touring in 2025.
Although he won't be hitting the road on a full-scale tour this year, it seems we have lots of new material to look forward to from Zach Bryan, with the ’I Remember Everything’ chart-topper confirming he'll be releasing a new album and EP in 2025.
Just this weekend, Bryan uploaded another unreleased song snippet, ‘Always Willin’, which is expected to feature on the tracklist for his keenly awaited next body of work.
The forthcoming project appears to be titled Motorbreath, with Zach Bryan having previously teased a track by that name. A couple of weeks ago, Bryan shared what seems to be an introduction to a new documentary about the creation of the album, with Matthew McConaughey taking the microphone to preview the film, ‘Motorbreath’, which makes us think this will also be the name of the record.
