It's now been over a month since Morgan Wallen dropped his expansive, groundbreaking album, One Thing At A Time, but it's still proving immovable on the charts.
Not only has the album held onto the top spot on the Billboard 200 for the fifth week running, but one of the most prominent singles from One Thing At A Time, the heartbroken, beat-driven ‘Last Night’, has returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
‘Last Night’ first leapt to No. 1 four weeks ago, before being briefly displaced - but it's now back on top.
The single's sustained success provides an added boost to Wallen's momentum as he prepares to kick off the US leg of his 2023 One Night At A Time world tour on April 14.
From March 31 to April 6, ‘Last Night’ received over 35 million streams and nearly 30 million radio airplay impressions.
In addition, the anthemic track was downloaded 10,000 times in the same period.
In addition, ‘Last Night’ remains at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country chart for the ninth week.
Billboard reports that this represents the first time in more than 42 years that a solo male artist without any featured acts has concurrently topped the Hot Country chart and the Hot 100.
The last artist to do so was country legend Glen Campbell with his iconic hit, ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’. Campbell's infectious ballad hit No. 1 on both charts back in 1975.
One of Morgan Wallen's 2023 tourmates, Bailey Zimmerman, has also enjoyed another successful week on the Billboard Hot 100. His moody earworm, ‘Rock and A Hard Place’, has surged back into the Top Ten, after having peaked at No. 10 last month.
‘Rock and A Hard Place’ is set to feature on Zimmerman's debut album, Religiously, which is due to be released on May 12. It originally appeared on his celebrated 2022 EP, Leave The Light On.
One to watch on this week's Billboard Hot 100 is certainly Jelly Roll's ‘NEED A FAVOR’, which entered at 82 following a high-profile performance of the gospel-tinged track during the 2023 CMT Awards.
Jelly Roll also took home three gongs over the course of the evening, in a blockbuster debut appearance at the ceremony.
