During his rescheduled show at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Morgan Wallen treated the packed-out crowd to the live debut of his unreleased fan-favourite, ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’.
Morgan shared an acoustic rendition of the brooding, stormy track at the start of March as part of his surprise Abbey Road Sessions project, with listeners clamouring for the ‘Thought You Should Know’ hitmaker to released a studio version in the coming weeks.
At the Oxford, Mississippi show, which was postponed from 2023 due to Morgan's vocal chord injury, the Sneedville singer-songwriter introduced the stripped-back heartbreak track by admitting he was feeling apprehensive about debuting the track, “This is really our first time playing this for you guys. So I'm a little bit nervous, a little bit excited. Let's get this started - it's called ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’”.
However, as the dramatic, simmering guitars started up and Morgan Wallen launched into the angsty opening verse, it was evident he had no need to worry. Morgan delivered a charismatic, fiery performance of ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, with his dexterous, signature vocals weaving seamlessly through the sparse accompaniment. Despite not yet being released, the audience sang along with him word-for-word throughout.
After this official live debut of ’Lies, Lies, Lies’, it's safe to say the sense of anticipation ahead of its release has sky-rocketed. The track, which went viral when Morgan Wallen first teased it towards the end of February during an industry writers’ round in Nashville, is expected to feature on the ’Last Night’ chart-topper's new album.
Although we're still waiting on a release date for his One Thing At A Time follow-up, with fans’ calls for Morgan to release ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ - and another previously shared viral hit, ‘I Guess’ - reaching fever pitch, it seems likely he'll decide to drop at least one of these much-loved tracks in the coming weeks. Those heading to Stagecoach Festival this weekend (April 26-28) will be hoping Morgan Wallen once again includes ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ in his setlist, as well as potentially debuting his eagerly awaited collaboration with Post Malone, ’I Had Some Help’.
