Morgan Wallen has received a handful of RIAA certifications, with a number of fan-favourites from his record-breaking 2023 album, One Thing At A Time, earning new Gold and Platinum plaques.
Notably, ‘Thinkin’ Bout Me’, has now been certified Platinum, with the Hip Hop-leaning track continuing to be one of the highest-charting Hot 100 songs from the album.
‘You Proof’, one of the many streaming juggernauts from One Thing At A Time, has now gone four-times Platinum. The infectious anthem still holds the title of the longest-running Billboard Country Airplay No. 1 single in the history of the chart.
In addition, amidst this flurry of RIAA certifications, three of Morgan Wallen's One Thing At A Time cuts have gone Gold, in recognition of them selling the equivalent of 500,000 units.
‘Sunrise’, ‘Days That End in Why’ and ‘‘98 Braves’ have all been certified Gold, with many fans calling for the latter to be given its chance to succeed on Country Radio as an official single.
The playful, inventive track pivots around the famous Atlanta Braves baseball team, which enjoyed a seemingly unstoppable run in 1998. However, they were unthinkably thwarted by the San Diego Padres, causing arguably one of the biggest upsets in the sport to date.
Morgan Wallen utilises this as a metaphor for a past relationship, which everyone thought would go the distance. However, much like the Atlanta Braves‘ 1998 National League Championship series title-challenge, it simply wasn't meant to be.
This new slew of RIAA certifications will no doubt be appreciated by Morgan Wallen. However, at the same time, it would be easy for these latest accolades to be overlooked by the ‘One Thing At A Time’ singer-songwriter, due to Wallen breaking a new record or achieving an unprecedented feat on a seemingly daily basis in 2023.
Just this past week, his chart-topping hit, ‘Last Night’, became the first song ever to achieve one billion on-demand audio streams in the US in a calendar year, while One Thing At A Time was recently recognised as the longest-running No. 1 album of the decade so far.
