After a lengthy spell of being conspicuous by his absence from the yearly Grammy nominations lists, Morgan Wallen has achieved his first two nods ahead of the 2025 ceremony.
The ‘Last Night’ chart-topper is up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song for his infectious, blockbuster Post Malone collaboration, ‘I Had Some Help’. The hugely popular track appears on Post Malone's debut country album, F-1Trillion, which received a nomination for Best Country Album.
Morgan Wallen penned ‘I Had Some Help’ with Posty and a crew of top-tier Nashville songsmiths, Hoskins, Louis Bell, Charlie Handsome, ERNEST, Ashley Gorley and Chandler Walters.
Morgan Wallen and Post Malone will be challenging for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards alongside a formidable roster of acts: Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus (‘II Most Wanted’), Brothers Osborne (‘Break Mine’), Dan + Shay (‘Bigger Houses’) and Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan (‘Cowboys Cry Too’).
Similarly, in order to get their hands on the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Country Song, the ‘865’ crooner and Post Malone will have to triumph over other ubiquitous tracks from the past year, including Beyoncé's ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, Jelly Roll's ‘I Am Not Okay’, Kacey Musgraves’ ‘The Architect’ and Shaboozey's ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’.
Although Morgan Wallen has already established himself as one of the most dominant artists in modern music, these two coveted nominations nonetheless represent an impressive feat for the ‘Chasin’ You’ singer-songwriter. His first haul of Grammy nods consolidates his evolution from country hitmaker to all-genre titan, with Morgan again showcasing his domination over the charts when he surged straight to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his latest single, ‘Love Somebody’, last month.
In recent weeks, he was replaced by Shaboozey's ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, which is expected to serve as one of the biggest threats to ‘I Had Some Help’ at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
It remains to be seen whether Morgan Wallen will be able to bring home not only his first Grammy nominations, but also his debut wins, when the ceremony comes around on February 2.
Meanwhile, Post Malone has a great shot at securing his first gong at the illustrious awards show, with the New York native receiving a whopping seven nominations, making him the joint-second most nominated artist, behind Beyoncé, who scored 11 in total, including an Album of the Year nod for her first country record, Cowboy Carter.
