Morgan Wallen brought out his friend and frequent co-writer, ERNEST, for an electrifying duet of their hit single, ‘Cowgirls’, which is expected to reach No. 1 at Country Airplay this weekend.
The 808-fuelled, genre-fusing anthem appears on Morgan's record-breaking 2023 album, One Thing At A Time, and served as one of the many highlights of the Sneedville hitmaker's blockbuster BST Hyde Park 2024 performance on Thursday night (July 4th).
With ERNEST opening for Morgan Wallen alongside the likes of Riley Green and Ella Langley, fans suspected ERN might join his Tennessee brother on-stage during the latter's set, but when Morgan launched into ‘Cowgirls’ solo, it looked like it might not happen.
Then, ever the entertainer, Morgan Wallen surprised the 50,000-strong UK crowd by introducing his good buddy, ERNEST, who emerged from the wings adorned in a USA-flag-emblazoned shirt, in honour of it being Independence Day in the States.
Every time ERNEST and Morgan hit the stage together, their endearing friendship and chemistry shines throughout, and their BST Hyde Park link-up was certainly no different.
The duo high-fived and hugged as they traded infectious verses, with one of the most endearing moments arriving when the crowd roared back at them, prompting Morgan and ERNEST to steal a glance of amazement, as if they couldn't quite believe they were on-stage at such an iconic venue that's been played by The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion and many more over the years.
Morgan Wallen's name is now a deserved inclusion on that illustrious list, with the ‘Last Night’ crooner's 2024 BST Hyde Park set being the biggest country concert in UK history. To celebrate, Morgan has now made his long-awaited, long-teased ballad, ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, available - a song he first recorded the last time he was across The Pond in December, as part of his widely lauded Abbey Road Sessions project.
