Rest assured it's a good time to be a Megan Moroney fan.
As well as releasing a slew of singles, announcing a new album and then taking home her first ever CMT Award last month, the Georgia prodigy is treating listeners to another brand new song.
Moroney's latest single, ‘Girl in the Mirror’, has now been released. Avid followers of the singer-songwriter have encountered glimpses and snippets of the introspective ballad before, with Moroney having shared teasers of ‘Girl in the Mirror’ across her socials in recent months.
The rising star also performed the self-love anthem at a secret showcase in Nashville at the start of the year.
Ever since, fans have been clamouring for it to receive an official release.
As well as being made available to stream, ‘Girl in the Mirror’ has been given an accompanying set of visuals, which revolve around Megan Moroney forlornly playing the song from her bedroom, as she stares wistfully into the mirror opposite her.
‘Girl in the Mirror’ finds Moroney in the aftermath of a break-up, resolving to focus more on caring for herself in future, rather than pouring all her energy into keeping her partner happy (“Why it didn't work, well, it's perfectly clear / I loved the boy more than I loved the girl in the mirror”).
It once again demonstrates the intricacy and casual allure that Moroney laces into her music, and although ‘Girl in the Mirror’ feels on the same sonic page as ‘Tennessee Orange’, the subject matter digs a little deeper than the other singles she's released from the new album.
Moroney's upcoming project, Lucky, will be released on May 5, and will also feature a range of other tracks that the up-and-coming artist has previously teased on her socials, including ‘Kansas Anymore’, ‘Traitor Joe’ and ‘Georgia Girl’.
