Megan Moroney has teased a brand new song, ‘Girl in the Mirror’, which many are expecting to be the hotly anticipated follow-up to her viral hit, ‘Tennessee Orange’.
Moroney played the unreleased track at a secret gig in Nashville. The singer-songwriter then posted a clip of her performing ‘Girl in the Mirror’ at the show, with fans already clamouring for the introspective ballad to receive an official release.
One fan commented, ‘I'm gonna need this song on your future album’, to which Moroney responded, ‘I can confirm’.
‘Girl in the Mirror’ finds Moroney examining the breakdown of a recent relationship, and asking herself why she's left hurting once again. As the hook builds, she realises that it all came down to one key issue - a lack of self-appreciation.
Moroney croons wistfully, “Why it didn't work, well, it's perfectly clear / I loved the boy more than I loved the girl in the mirror”.
It's a self-love anthem that's bound to resonate with a number of listeners, while the easy, laid-back feel of the track will satisfy fans of Moroney's break-out single, ‘Tennessee Orange’.
Although we're still waiting for an official release date for both ‘Girl in the Mirror’ and Megan Moroney's debut album, it seems the Georgia artist has recently been spending a lot of time in the studio, which could mean the project will be arriving sooner rather than later.
In the past few weeks, Moroney has been posting a series of images and snippets from her studio sessions, including a heart-warming video of Jamey Johnson and Deana Carter surprising her with the news that she'd be making her Grand Ole Opry debut on February 11.
Elsewhere on her Instagram page, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Megan Moroney pointedly used a series of four-leaf clover emojis in her original album teaser post.
Some suspect this is a hint that either her next single - which could well be ‘Girl in the Mirror’ - or her debut album will be dropping on St. Patrick's Day, March 17.
