Merlefest 2023 continues to build out an impressive line-up for its historic 35th instalment. Newly announced for the North Carolina country celebration is Marcus King, Little Feat, Tanya Tucker, Miko Marks and more.
Fans will be excited to witness King perform a series of tracks from his widely celebrated 2022 project, Young Blood, along with hits from his Grammy-nominated 2020 offering, El Dorado.
Little Feat also serve as a high-profile addition, with the genre-agnostic rock legends confirmed as performing on the Thursday.
Joining them will be a refreshingly eclectic range of performers, such as AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Alison Brown, Andy Cohen and Anna Lynch.
Also introduced to the line-up is Bee Taylor, Brothers Comatose, Chris Jones & The Night Drivers and Cole Chaney.
This marks a particularly special edition of the festival, as it will celebrate what would've been the 100th birthday of the Merlefest founder, Doc Watson.
He set up the event 35 years ago in memory of his son, Eddy Merle Watson, who had tragically passed away in 1985 as a result of a tractor accident.
The festival will be taking place in the secluded idyll of Wilkesboro, which sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The pressure was on to piece together a stellar line-up for the 2023 festival, given its poignance, and so far it's safe to say the organisers are delivering!
