Jimmy Hurdstrom is heading back to Montana!

Jefferson White will revive his Yellowstone role in the second season of Marshals, joining Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton in a recurring role when the hit spin-off returns on 4th October.

“I’m thrilled to dive into the world of Marshals and continue exploring the American West,” White said. “Jimmy and I have been through a lot together and I can’t wait to see what’s next for us.”

That’s somewhat of an understatement. Jimmy appeared in Yellowstone’s first season in 2018, arriving at the Dutton Ranch as a troubled young man who knew very little about being a cowboy. Across five seasons, he went from being one of the bunkhouse’s biggest liabilities to one of the show’s most likeable success stories.

His biggest turning point came when John Dutton sent him to the 6666 Ranch in Texas in season four. It was there that Jimmy finally found his feet as a cowboy, met Emily and ultimately chose to build his life in Texas.

Show-runner Spencer Hudnut has confirmed Jimmy will return to Montana and spend time at East Camp, getting to know Kayce’s new team. Grimes also admitted bringing him back was partly about giving Yellowstone fans someone they had missed.

“I think universally everyone loved Jimmy,” Grimes said, explaining that the idea came from asking how they could “delight our audience a little bit more this season”.

After watching Jimmy leave Montana as a very different cowboy from the one who first arrived at the Yellowstone, seeing him come back feels like a pretty lovely full circle moment.

Marshals season two premieres on CBS on 4th October and will also stream on Paramount+.
