Luke Combs has released his long-awaited single, ‘5 Leaf Clover’, ahead of his upcoming album, Gettin’ Old, which is due to be made available on Friday, March 24.
Luke has been teasing ‘5 Leaf Clover’ for the best part of two years, and fans have been kept on tenterhooks ever since.
Now, the stripped-back song has been given an official release on St. Patrick's Day - an aptly timed holiday, given the ballad's themes of luck and clovers.
On ‘5 Leaf Clover’, Luke treads in similar footsteps to his 2019 song, ‘Without You’, as he outlines his bemusement at the fortune that has come his way on his musical journey so far.
It's a heartwarming song of gratitude, and showcases the everyman humility that Luke Combs has become known for.
It's a quality that has earned the North Carolina songsmith one of the most loyal fanbases in country music, and in many ways, ‘5 Leaf Clover’ is a love letter to them.
The new track follows ‘Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old’, ‘Love You Anyway’ and ‘Joe’ as the lead singles from Luke's upcoming project, Gettin’ Old.
Judging by the three songs, the chart-topper will continue to lean into a more wistful, muted direction compared to the levity and rowdiness that has pervaded his previous albums.
Also set to feature on Gettin’ Old is Luke's cover of Tracy Chapman's ‘Fast Car’. The country star's YouTube performance of the song back in 2021 was widely celebrated by fans, who are excited to see that his version of the track will finally be getting an official release on March 24.
