Jelly Roll has successfully blazed a trail through the often impenetrable boundary that separates hip hop and country. Now, he's looking to bring Post Malone with him.

During a new interview about his upcoming album, AUSTIN, Post Malone was asked about the prospect of the ‘rockstar’ hitmaker releasing a country album one day, to which he replied, “I think I’ll do it whenever the time is right in the studio and I’m just vibing... I think it’ll be a fun time. I just like creating stuff and making everything”.

Almost immediately after this clip of Posty did the rounds online, Jelly Roll took the opportunity to get in an early collaboration request, tweeting, “Yo yo yo @PostMalone when you finally make that country album and come to Nashville holler at me bubba, much love”.

Post Malone has built a reputation for his chameleonic sound, which often flits between rap, hip hop and rock. He's never yet ventured into the country music arena with an official release, although the man affectionately known as ‘Posty’ is widely known to be a country music fan.

For instance, during Matthew McConaughey's ‘We're Texas’ fundraiser, Post Malone performed a stellar rendition of Brad Paisley's tongue-in-cheek anthem, ‘I'm Gonna Miss Her’.

We're hoping Jelly Roll's tweet has caught the attention of Post Malone, as the two artists’ sounds would undoubtedly be an electrifying combination, should a collaboration ever come to fruition.

Even if we don't get a studio release, it seems a performance on CMT Crossroads, which famously produces one-of-a-kind pairings, could well be on the cards. CMT replied to Jelly Roll's tweet by teasing, “If only there was a perfect show for this”.

Post Malone's new album, AUSTIN, will stick to his tried-and-tested sonic blueprint. Nonetheless, we'll be keeping our fingers crossed that his follow-up project will stray into country-inspired territory - and that it features a blockbuster collaboration with Jelly Roll. Jelly Roll will release his own country-leaning project, Whitsitt Chapel, on June 2.
