Jelly Roll recently announced an unexpected collaboration is on its way.
This week, the country-rap sensation teased a duet with Christian Contemporary artist Brandon Lake. The pair are gearing up to release a remake of the latter's 'Hard Fought Hallelujah' on Feb. 7.
The powerful track, which appeared on Lake's 2024 album of the same name, will soon get a dose of Jelly Roll, his impassioned vocals and bold artistry taking the tune up a notch.
It was 'Hard Fought Hallelujah' that initially found Jelly Roll, the song impacting him deeply. "I haven't had a record touch me like that in so long," the country favorite shared with Lake in a conversation. "It's been years since I worshiped the way that I worshiped to that song."
Jelly Roll added, "I carry my faith with me, but I'm also struggling and very honest and open about that." He remarked on how he's felt wounded by the Church in the past, explaining in spite of that: "I needed that record when I heard it."
This collaboration marks a first taste of new music from Jelly Roll since the October release of his 2024 album, Beautifully Broken, a project in which the artist explores his depths, exhumes his rocky past and looks ahead to the bright future he's mapped for himself.
'Hard Fought Hallelujah' is set to be one more inspirational brick in his exciting journey forward.
