As well as hosting the biggest NFL event and one of the most anticipated performances of the year, the Super Bowl always offers viewers the chance to enjoy some star-studded commercials as they take a break from the otherwise non-stop action.
Uber Eats’ 2024 advert has undoubtedly staked its claim for the best of the bunch, with the food company recruiting Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Jelly Roll and more for the hilarious visuals. Shortly before airing, the firm was forced to edit out a skit that was criticised for seemingly making light of peanut allergies.
The commercial pivots around the idea that, as Jennifer Aniston puts it, “In order to remember something, you've got the forget something else”. The advert then shows a variety of celebrities keeping their Uber Eats orders at the forefront of their minds, while allowing amusingly obvious things to slip from their memories.
For instance, after being given her Uber Eats package, Jennifer Aniston runs into her Friends co-star, David Schwimmer, but fails to recollect her colleague of ten years.
Another laugh-out-loud moment come courtesy of a bewildered Jelly Roll, who stares confusedly at his trademark face tattoos and cries out, “Did someone doodle on my face?!”
David and Victoria Beckham also feature, with the couple desperately attempting to remember the name of Victoria's much-loved band, The Spice Girls. The Pepper Ladies, Basil Babes, Cinnamon Sisters and Paprika Girls are all thrown out as options.
As Jennifer Aniston walks way from David Schwimmer with her Uber Eats order, she mutters, “Like I'd forget ten years of my life”, before David closes the clip by sighing, “I hate this town”.
In addition to Jelly Roll appearing in this comical Uber Eats’ commercial, Coors Light got Lainey Wilson to star in their Super Bowl advert, while Bud Light built a clever plot-line around Post Malone for theirs. Earlier in the evening, Posty kicked off proceedings with a stellar rendition of ‘America The Beautiful’ from the centre of the pitch.
