Whatever your allegiance may be in the lead-up to February's Super Bowl LIX, it looks like we might have to temporarily pivot and start donning the midnight green of the Philadelphia Eagles.
In a new Instagram post following his beloved Philadelphia Eagles’ 28 - 22 victory over the LA Rams, Zach Bryan has announced he'l release the previously teased ’Blue Jean Baby’ this Sunday (January 26th), if the Eagles manage to win the NFC.
To do so, Nick Sirianni's men will have to triumph over the Washington Commanders when they lock horns this weekend, with the victor securing their spot in the Super Bowl LIX.
The Eagles will undoubtedly fancy their chances, and will head into the fixture as the favourites, given the fact that they won the NFC East, with the Commanders ending up second.
In his new post, Zach Bryan has also revealed that he crafted ‘Blue Jean Baby’ in Philadelphia, making this the perfect song to celebrate a potential Eagles victory this Sunday.
Bryan first teased us with a snippet of ‘Blue Jean Baby’ back in September 2023, with many fearing the track had been cast to his sizeable heap of never-to-be-released offerings.
Now, the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker has tantalisingly shared, “IF THE BIRDS WIN THE NFC BLUE JEAN BABY IS OUT SUNDAY NIGHT...WRITTEN AND RECORDED IN PHILLY”.
The fact that ‘Blue Jean Baby’ is completed and ready to release is a further indication that Zach Bryan has finished his keenly awaited The Great American Bar Scene follow-up album.
Last week, Zach Bryan uploaded what appears to be the introduction to a new documentary, titled Motorbreath, with Matthew McConaughey delivering a compelling voiceover in which he explains that the project follows Bryan and his friends on a two-week motorcycle ride across the US, as he completes “one final major label album”.
Judging by the name of the film, it seems the previously teased ’Motorbreath’ - which, like ‘High Road’ and ‘This World's A Giant’, features vocals from New York indie artist, Grumpy - may also serve as the title of Zach Bryan's eagerly anticipated new album.
Alongside his unexpected promise about the forthcoming Philadelphia Eagles game, Zach Bryan has shared a new clip of ‘Blue Jean Baby’, which finds him reflecting on the peace and escapism he finds in jubilant evenings spent in dive bars with good buddies.
It's a decidedly more anthemic and rowdier compared to his some of his recent material, such as the introspective, pared-down ‘Boon’ and ‘The Way Back’, with Bryan instead exploring the full-blooded, sing-your-heart-out feel of ’Open the Gate’ and ’Revival’.
When Sunday's match arrives, there'll be a spot at one of the biggest sporting events on the planet. But somewhat more importantly for country music aficionados, there will be the prospect of new music from Zach Bryan. Rest assured fans will be cheering on the Eagles with a little extra gusto this weekend. Go birds!
