Ella Langley's worldwide hit spends its 18th week at No. 1, making 'Choosin Texas' the longest female chanted non-holiday song on the Billboard Hot 100.
The incredibly famous and sensational 'Choosin Texas' is currently on its 18th week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing hitmakers such as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston for the longest female written non-holiday song.
Ella Langley is currently on one of the hottest streaks in country music history. The star who just had the most unforgettable summer of her career tied legends such as Carey and Houston when she hit her 14th week at No. 1 back in late July, and surpassed Morgan Wallen's 'Last Night' hit when she trekked week 17 - now, the country voice heard around the world is hot on the heels of artists such as Lil Nas X with his 'Old Town Road' hit and Shaboozey with his 'A Bar Song (Tipsy).'
One more week at the top of the chart, and she ties both of these artists for the longest running non-holiday song.
Before we get ahead of ourselves or reminisce on weeks past just a bit too much though, we can't speak enough to her success and the possibilities Langley has opened up not only for herself, but for country music in both the chart and entertainment space.
In the total top 10 of the prestigious list, Langley currently holds three spots: 'Choosin Texas' at No. 1, 'Be Her' at No. 10, and her hit collaboration with Morgan Wallen, 'I Can't Love You Anymore' at No. 7. Not only are these feats astounding on a chart-history level, but they showcase just how vast her songwriting range truly is.
After its release in October 2025 and spending its first week on the chart back in February 2026, 'Choosin Texas' has racked up a more than impressive line of accomplishments, pushing Langley to a point in her career that is simply impossible to ignore.
It's been noted, too, with various artists of high-status giving Langley their stamp of approval - such as rapper Drake and his "Goated Pen" comment on Langley's most recent Instagram post, and Jimmy Fallon and famous actor Matthew Mcoughney's comedic cover of the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Now that 'Choosin Texas' has walked a more than impressive mile to a point where recognition comes from all different facets of the entertainment world, it seems as though the next steps would be even higher ambitions - such as potential 2027 GRAMMYs nominations and reaching that 20th week - where Langley would hold the title for the longest running song on the Billboard Hot 100.
Langley's 'Be Her' has also held an important space for the star, marking the Hot 100's tenth spot, it keeps Langley's career in a conversation far away from any "one hit wonder" talk she might've been subject to this year, if the success of her Dandelion record didn't skyrocket the way it did.
The song seems like the perfect second-single from the record in many respects - carrying Langley's ambitions from the start of her Dandelion era in 2025 to the release of the record in April of 2026, the track cemented Langley into a grounding space that connected her with listeners and instantly made her relatable for her young female fans, as the track speaks to internal struggles of comparison from a female perspective.
And of course, we have Langley and Morgan Wallen's 'I Can't Love You Anymore' at spot No. 7. The collaboration took off for many reasons, but the true star power in the song is what cements it in its place on the chart. Quickly becoming a chart challenger against Wallen, his hit single 'Been By Now,' which rests at No. 2 on the list, did its best to climb the ranks and push against Langley, but even against an artist of his standing, 'Choosin Texas' is a force to be reckoned with.
As for other country songs on the chart, Stella Lefty's hit 'Boston' also falls somewhere in between Langley's trailblazing and Wallen's strong consistency - the song has spent 18 weeks of its own on the list, peaking at No. 3. And along with Lefty, Taylor Swift's 'I Knew It, I Knew You' sits at No. 5 on the list - making history on the chart's 68-year run, 6 of the 10 top spots belong to country songs.
