Ella Langley is the first artist to receive two CMA Single of the Year nominations in the same year since Miranda Lambert achieved it in 2010.

The ‘Dandelion’ singer continues her run of phenomenal success with nine nominations at this year’s CMA Awards, two of which are in the same category. Both, ‘Be Her’ and ‘Choosin’ Texas’ have been nominated for Single of the Year for the 60th Anniversary Awards show.

The two songs carry significant career highs for Langley. ‘Choosin’ Texas’ has smashed records, sitting at number one for 21 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 - which is the longest serving non-Christmas number one in the chart’s history. And if that’s not impressive enough, she’s also conquered the British pop market, hitting number one on the UK Singles Chart in September this year, further cementing her success. ‘Be Her’ has also had an impressive run, blocked from climbing higher on the charts by Langley herself. The track spent two weeks at number two and went on to top the Country Airplay charts for four weeks (a week longer than ‘Choosin’ Texas’).

Miranda Lambert was the last artist to receive this monumental milestone back in 2010, with ‘The House That Built Me’ and ‘White Liar’. Lambert, who is now somewhat of a mentor to Langley, also received nine CMA Award nominations that year, which is the same number of nominations that Langley has received this year. Spooky.

Lainey Wilson came close to this accolade back in 2023 with her nominations for ‘Heart Like A Truck’ and ‘wait in the truck’. However, the latter was only a feature on HARDY’s song, so doesn’t quite count. Still pretty impressive, though.

Both Wilson and Lambert have acted as mentors for Langley, who has seen unprecedented success in the last 12 months. Her album, Dandelion, was co-produced with Lambert, and Langley has spoken about the confidence the ‘Gunpowder and Lead’ singer instilled in her. The pair share the beautiful ‘Butterfly Season’ track off that album and we’re hoping they might perform it together at this year’s ceremony.

The Alabama native has spoken candidly about her mental health, particularly during her period of rest last year, attributing her recovery to the support and understanding of friends like Lambert and Wilson, saying that they “saved her life”.

At a time where females can be fiercely pitted against each other, there is a clear camaraderie amongst the women at the top of their game and they’re not about to hold each other back.

The 60th Annual CMA Awards will be held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 18th, 2026. Fans can stream the event from 7pm on Disney+ and ABC, with replay available the next day on Hulu.
