Dan + Shay have shared a full acoustic performance of their evocative new song, ‘Her, The Kids, and Jesus’, via social media, ahead of its official release on July 24th, 2026.
The chart-topping duo have not posted an entire acoustic song before its studio version since their first album, and suggested that OG fans will know which song this was! We’ve saved you the scrolling - it was, ‘19 You & Me’. They went on to say they felt this was the right track to bring the tradition back for, because it means so much to them.
The song may already sound familiar to some fans. Dan + Shay first performed it during a surprise pop-up at La La Land Cafe in Nashville in December 2025, meaning listeners have been waiting months to hear the finished version. Thankfully, we don't have to wait much longer.
The title is also deeply personal. Shay Mooney is now a father of four, and while both he and Dan Smyers have been married to their respective partners since 2017. Ten years ago, Dan + Shay were often writing about falling in love. Now, they are writing about the life that comes with it. It’s hard not to feel incredibly moved in many respects listening to this song, especially if you’ve followed the duo for a while.
Faith is not a new addition to Dan + Shay’s world, either. They recently joined Brandon Lake, Lainey Wilson and CeCe Winans for Cowboy Church at CMA Fest, which became the first event in the festival’s history to reach capacity across three separate locations. It was not just a memorable moment but a clear sign of the appetite for faith-led music within country, an aspect it’s always been rooted in. That makes a song called ‘Her, The Kids, and Jesus’ feel both deeply traditional and well-timed, rooted in the values country music holds close, while at the same time reflecting where Dan + Shay and much of their audience are in life now.
The song will feature on their sixth studio album, YOUNG, landing August 21st. The duo have described it as their most personal record yet, built from true stories and a desire to make music that feels authenticm, rather than simply chase another hit.
