Chris Stapleton has given listeners another sneak peak into his forthcoming album, Higher, by releasing a brand new slow-burning ode to his wife, ‘It Takes A Woman’.
So far, the singles from Higher have been relatively uptempo affairs, with the fiery, electric guitar-driven ‘White Horse’ and the simmering, swaggering ‘I Think I'm In Love With You’ having been the only two releases from the project until today.
By contrast, ‘It Takes A Woman’ strips it back and finds Chris Stapleton slipping back into the shoes he wore for his iconic 14-times Platinum ballad, ‘Tennessee Whiskey’.
It serves as an endearing ode to all the ways in which his wife, Morgane, picks him up when he's down (“Whenever I'm broken / Honey, you heal me / When I'm in the dark / You are the light”).
Attendees at Chris Stapleton's upcoming All-American Roadshow tour-dates will be hoping to hear the bearded hitmaker introduce ‘It Takes A Woman’ into his 2023 setlist.
However, fans will have to wait until next week to hear this song live for the first time, with Stapleton having been forced to postpone this weekend's trio of shows in Louisiana and Texas after being diagnosed with bronchitis and laryngitis.
