During an appearance on Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, Brittney Kelley has revealed how Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard reconnected ahead of Florida Georgia Line's reunion.

Brittney begins by sharing some context for the initial split, which started in 2022. At the time, there were a host of rumours circling around the reason behind the chart-topping duo's hiatus, including speculation around Kelley and Hubbard having conflicting political beliefs, tension over BK's pursuit of a solo career and more.

Brittney begins, “You know as well as I do, things that are said in the media and things that the media write about you, it's not always true. Obviously, there was a pause, there was a break. It happened during COVID, a lot of confusing times, a lot of misunderstandings. Today, current day, we're in a really good place. We've had really healing conversations”, adding, “Jesus literally has brought us all four together”.

Throughout the conversation, Brittney - who runs the popular Tribe Kelley fashion brand with Kelley - emphasises how, although the world go to see BK and THubb reunite very publicly on-stage at CMA Fest 2026, there was a lot of deeply private healing and rebuilding that had to take place behind-the-scenes before this. Brittney highlights that, now, she, BK, THubb and Hayley Hubbard are closer than ever.

Brittney explains, “Last year, let's see, last November, Tyler reached out to BK to go on a hike. There was this famous hike moment with the fans. They went on a hike and they had a great talk...Tyler and BK are brothers. They grew up together. They literally cut their teeth leading worship together. That's music, and they wrote a lot of songs together, before even FGL formed. They literally grew up in a van together. I think they just reconnected in a way that really only God can do”.

She goes on, “It was like a softening of the hearts, being able to listen and understand and hear one another and receive that. Then they invited us out to their home in Idaho. We had a week of healing...We did, I felt like, years worth of healing in five days. There was a moment that Hayley and I had and we were like, this is by the grace of God. Neither one of us felt like we could feel it that quickly again”.

Hilariously, Brittney recalls that, during the trip, THubb was so excited at having his friendship with BK back that he wanted to ride a tandem bike with him for the entire holiday.

As for the decision to make the reconnection public, Brittney underlines that it was a decision made with fans in mind, “We kept it private actually for a while. We had a lot of private conversations for a while. We had a lot of fans come up to the boys in Idaho. It was really sweet moment. Fans would cry. They're like, I'm so glad to see you all together. This is making me want to reach out to my friend. We got that in-person and we were like, the fans in the world deserve to see the redemption that God can only give you. They deserve the inspiration in their own lives. We were careful with it and we savored a lot of that privately. We still have so many memories that we've savored privately that we haven't even posted about yet”.

Brittney outlines how emotional the CMA Fest moment was for everyone involved, sharing that her and Kelley were crying backstage beforehand as they made their way to Nissan Stadium, “But like, no, I mean, I had tears in my eyes. Like my husband is like the sweetest...His heart is just so sweet and pure...He, like, was bawling, crying on the way there. Like before it even happened, he was, like, crying”.

Brittney concludes, “We were just super happy for that redemptive feeling and for the feeling of, like, peace. And like I said, like, we had this peace, this like undeniable peace, indescribable peace that came over us that, like, even if nothing else happened past then, it feels so good to have like that heavy cloud lifted of just misunderstanding and confusion. And now we feel peace and like, a release, and just love”.

Brittney touches on a key but largely overlooked factor in the excitement surrounding Florida Georgia Line reunion, and the redemption arc in BK and THubb's friendship.

Of course, we are all looking forward to getting the chance to see FGL reel off hits like ’Cruise’, ‘Round Here’ and ‘Anything Goes’ as they embark on their blockbuster festival tour, as well as the prospect of hopefully hearing new music from the duo in 2027. But underneath this, there's a glow of warmth and hope radiating through the story, with fans drawn to the fact that these two old pals, who had been through so much together but had lost their way, have rekindled their friendship. That journey - which, as Brittney shares, feels like something only God could devise - is the heart of why FGL's comeback is resonating so strongly.
