The Background:
Appearing on Josiah Queen's widely celebrated third album, Damascus Road, ‘paradise’ finds the ‘make heaven crowded’ singer-songwriter reflecting on how all the heartbreak and pain of this world will be made right by God and Jesus. The track is joined on Queen's 2026 project by other euphoric, faith-filled fan-favourites like ‘amazing!’ with ELEVATION WORSHIP, ‘demons’, ‘judas’ and ‘out of breath’.
The Sound:
Like so many gems in Queen's catalogue, ‘paradise’ opens with a stripped-back, intimate composition, with the Florida native crooning gently cross an undulating guitar riff.
As the emotional intensity heightens, though, Queen is joined by a rousing wave of electric guitars and some ethereal, yearning strings. The gradual, unfurling nature of the instrumental Queen's narrative about eventually making our way up to Heaven, with ‘paradise’ taking on an orchestral and almost celestial feel at the end.
The Meaning:
Throughout ‘paradise’, Queen meditates on all the horrific scenes of violence, cruelty and agony we see around the world, with the ‘Watch Your Mouth’ crooner asking God why there is so much pain on earth, admitting that it weighs on his heart.
But he then finds comfort in the knowledge that, when he makes it to Heaven and meets God face-to-face, there will be no more tears. He believes God keeps a record of all our tears and prayers up in Heaven, and one day, God will make everything right.

“Why is there such evil in this world?
Families, cities torn apart by war
Why is there such heartbreak in this world?
Orphans, little boys and little girls
-
Oh it weighs heavy on me, when I wonder why
But one day it will be made right
-
When I get to Heaven, in Paradise
And I see Your eyes
I'll know I made it home
When I cross those gates, the finish line
And I see You smile
There will be tears no more
-
Break my heart for what is breaking Yours
Teach me how to love despite the hurt
-
Oh it weighs heavy on me but I wonder why
But one day it will be made right
-
When I get to Heaven, in Paradise
And I see your eyes
I'll know I made it home
When I cross those gates, the finish line
And I see You smile
There will be tears no more
-
'Cause God is a man of many sorrows
He stores up our tears in a bottle
He hears every prayer that we make so
I know, I know, I know
-
When I get to Heaven, in Paradise
And I see Your eyes
I'll know I made it home
When I cross those gates, the finish line
And I see You smile
Oh, there will be tears no more
There will be tears no more
When I see Your eyes
When I see Your smile
There will be tears no more”
