The Background:

Shortly after teasing ‘make heaven crowded’ across Instagram and TikTok, Josiah Queen released the soaring ode in early May 2026. It follows the folk-leaning Contemporary Christian Music hitmaker's viral singles, ‘demons’ and ‘judas’, with all three tracks expected to feature on Queen's eagerly awaited new studio album.

As part of the release week, to highlight the song's message of encouraging unashamed declarations of faith in a largely secular society, Queen gathered around 2,000 people in Times Square, New York to jubilantly sing ‘make heaven crowded’ together.

The Sound:

‘make heaven crowded’ opens with a pensive acoustic guitar riff, with Queen opting for a similar composition to that of his 2025 hit, ‘Dusty Bibles’, where the song begins intimate, stripped-back and reflective, before building towards a freeing, anthemic hook.

Like the instrumental, Queen's vocals are initially subdued, matching the tone of the first verse. Then, it dawns on him that he needs to be shouting about his faith in God and Jesus from the rooftops, and our narrator gains verve as he approaches the chorus. The gang vocals add another level of intensity to the hook, and gives it the feel of a euphoric sea-shanty designed to be roared by stadium-sized crowds.

The Meaning:

Queen starts by recalling a conversation he had with an atheist, who suggested that nobody truly believes in Christianity, because if they did, then they'd “tell everyone they see”. This gets Queen thinking about his own approach to spreading the Gospel, as he realises that he hasn't been doing enough to share the Good News.

Our protagonist hints that he's been afraid and a little bashful when it comes to speaking about God and Jesus to others, perhaps due to fears about whether others will see him differently and whether his beliefs might feel out-of-place in the modern West.

But either way, he determines to become bolder and more courageous in speaking what's on his heart, and sharing his testimony - because ultimately, it's not about him. For our narrator, the objective is to fill Heaven with as many saved souls as possible.

Although it's widely reported that Christianity is becoming increasingly popular among Gen-Z, there are still certain connotations that come with this that can make people feel a little anxious about the prospect of openly discussing their beliefs with others.

As a result, Queen's ‘make heaven crowded’ pivots around a relatable mantra of reassurance for many to not worry about what others think when it comes to faith. There's a lovely metaphor about having a powerful recipe for living life, but keeping it a secret, before deciding to share it with everyone, leading to one big joyous banquet (“I've tasted and seen / And kept the recipe quiet / There's a feast at the table / And all are invited”). The union between God and His people is often described in the Bible as being akin to a celebratory “banquet” or “feast”.

“I heard an atheist say
No one really believes
'Cause if it was good news
They'd tell everyone they see
-
I'm done being afraid to speak of the Name
Of the One that has saved my soul
No, I'm not ashamed, I'll follow the way
Far past my comfort zone
-
Make Heaven crowded, billions of souls
'Til every nation and tribe, every tongue will come home
I'm about it, call me a fool
I don't care what they say, I will shout it
Make Heaven crowded
-
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
-
I've tasted and seen
And kept the recipe quiet
There's a feast at the table
And all are invited
-
I'm done being afraid to speak of the Name
Of the One that has saved my soul
No, I'm not ashamed, I'll follow the way
Far past my comfort zone
-
Make Heaven crowded, billions of souls
'Til every nation and tribe, every tongue will come home
I'm about it, call me a fool
I don't care what they say, I will shout it
Make Heaven crowded
-
Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Make Heaven crowded
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
-
I'm done being afraid to speak of the Name
Of the One that has saved my soul
No, I'm not ashamed, I'll follow the way
Far past my comfort zone
-
The harvest is due and the workers are few
If it's just me, I'll do it alone
I'll be Your hand and Your feet anywhere that You lead
'Til the day that You welcome me home
-
Make Heaven crowded, billions of souls
'Til every nation and tribe, every tongue will come home
I'm about it, call me a fool
I don't care what they say, I will shout it
Make Heaven crowded, billions of souls
'Til every nation and tribe, every tongue will come home
I'm about it, call me a fool
I don't care what they say, I will shout it
Make Heaven crowded”
