Almost exactly 10 years after the release of their Diamond-certified single, ‘What Ifs’, Lauren Alaina and Kane Brown reunited in July 2026 for a brand new duet, ‘Never Been In Love’.
The lovestruck, beat-driven ode appears on Alaina's 2026 studio album, Stages, alongside fan-favourite songs like ‘Those Kind Of Women’, ‘Better Off’ and ‘Heaven Sent’.
The Sound:
We know from their previous collaboration just how well Alaina and Brown's vocals complement one another, but on ‘Never Been In Love’, it feels like they've never sounded better. Their harmonies light up the track, while the bright, pop-leaning instrumental accentuates the rose-tinted, joyful ambience that permeates the song.
The Meaning:
‘Never Been In Love’ pivots around a heartwarming conversation between two lovers. The narrator begins by sitting their partner down for a “cold confession”, cleverly making the listener wonder if they've got something dark or troubling to tell them.
But thankfully, the confession is simply that - as the title suggests - she has never been in love until she met him. Our protagonist admits that she's told previous partners that she loves them, but she's realised now that she's with him that she was mistaken. Such is their bond, it's clear that this is the first time she has felt true love.
