When Ed Sheeran popped up at the 58th ACM Awards in 2023 to join Luke Combs for a lively rendition of his hit ‘Life Goes On’ the whole world went into meltdown, but it wasn’t the first time an artist from outside of country music had joined forces with a country superstar to conjure up some cross-genre magic.

Back in 2016 the country music establishment went into meltdown at the 50th annual CMA Awards when Beyoncé took to the stage with The Chicks to perform a countrified duet of her hit ‘Daddy Lessons’, and who can forget Nelly crossing protons streams with Tim McGraw in the mid-noughties.
