There are a whole bunch of our biggest stars today who started out life on a farm. George Strait's father owned a 2,000-acre ranch in Big Wells, Miranda Lambert was raised on a farm in Texas, and Luke Bryan grew up on a peanut farm in Georgia. Before she moved to Nashville and became an international pop megastar, Taylor Swift grew up on a farm in Reading, Pennsylvania, and likewise Miley Cyrus was raised on a 500-acre farm in Franklin, Tennessee, and she still owns her own pig today.

Which goes some way to explaining why there are so many ruddy songs about farms and farming in country music.
