Zach Bryan has released his eagerly anticipated new song, ‘Dawns’.

The haunting new song features ethereal vocals from both Zach Bryan and Maggie Rogers, with the duo's melodies gliding across an angsty, uptempo instrumental.

The two Grammy-nominated artists combine to produce a soulful, wintry anthem, which is widely expected to feature on Zach Bryan's upcoming album, Writers and Fighters.

After a series of teasers, the ‘Heading South’ hitmaker promised to give the song an official release if his beloved Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants on January 21.

He followed this up by teasing the artwork for the single, which features a black-and-white photograph of Bryan underneath the boldly emblazoned song-title, ‘DAWNS‘.

After the Eagles hammered the Giants 38-7, Bryan confirmed that ‘Dawns’ would be uploaded to streaming platforms on January 27.

As usual, Bryan stayed true to his word, and released the fan-favourite song as the clock struck midnight.

On Christmas Day, as well as releasing his long-awaited live album, All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster (Live From Red Rocks), Bryan also made ‘Dawns’ available to fans for a brief period of time.

Fans received a temporary link to the track if they signed up to receive updates from Zach Bryan via the messaging platform, Laylo.

After a sparse, frosty opening from Bryan with barely any accompaniment, the sun finally peeks over the horizon as the song launches into an explosion of colour.

The production is slicker and smoother than the stripped-back arrangements that Bryan has become known for, as the artist continues to build out the stadium-friendly sound that pervaded his 2022 EP, Summertime Blues.

Bryan first teased ‘Dawns’ in November, along with a snippet of the icy, black-and-white music video.

‘Dawns’ touches on Bryan's grief at the loss of his mother, who passed away in 2016 (“Give me my dawns back/Everything that dies makes its way on back/I lost her last July to a heart attack”).

You can't help but feel that ‘Dawns’ is the little sibling to Bryan's blockbuster hit, ‘Something in the Orange’, which explored the conflicting emotions that emerge in tandem with the setting of the sun.

On ‘Dawns’, the listener finds Bryan once again staring at the skyline as the sun begins its ascent, bringing with it a fresh wave of nostalgia and grief.

The original link to ‘Dawns’ arrived on an eventful Christmas Day for fans of Zach Bryan, with the Oklahoma native also teasing a new tour for 2023, which will feature a slew of low-price dates.

That teaser eventually turned into the Burn, Burn, Burn 2023 tour, which kicks off on May 10.

The promise of low-cost tickets aligns with Bryan's continued resistance against the skyrocketing prices that are facilitated by Ticketmaster.

Even the title of his recent live album - All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster (Live From Red Rocks) - serves as a tongue-in-cheek nod to the feud.

With Zach Bryan's ‘Oklahoma Smokeshow’ recently having gone Gold and ‘Something in the Orange’ retaining its place atop of the Billboard Hot Country chart, it seems highly likely that ‘Dawns’ is set to earn the prolific artist a brand new collection of RIAA certifications and accolades.
