Zach Bryan has returned to TikTok to tease a brand new unreleased song, seemingly entitled, ‘Sandpaper’, with fans already clamouring for Zach to make the track available to stream.

The intricate, heartfelt ballad seemingly serves as an ode to the ‘Deep Satin’ singer-songwriter's girlfriend, Brianna LaPaglia, with Zach humbly revealing he feels she's too good for him.

He serenades Brianna with the moving lyrics, “You ain't out of my league, you're out of this planet / But dammit if you ain't drilled inside my skull”, as he admits that, although he feels unworthy of her affection, he simply cannot imagine living without her. In classic Zach Bryan fashion, there's a satisfying internal rhyme with ‘planet’ and ‘dammit’, which seamlessly knits the two lines together.

There's no word just yet about when we can expect to see ‘Sandpaper’ on Spotify and Apple Music, and given the array of unreleased songs Zach Bryan has in his arsenal, it's unclear when he'll let this new fan-favourite see the light of day.

Even so, the chart-topping songsmith is currently working on a new record, which we're expecting to be called The Great American Bar Scene, and given how ‘Sandpaper’ has immediately resonated with listeners, it seems likely he'll include it on the project.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that the Oklahoma crooner decides to give ‘Sandpaper’ an official release in the coming months, and it's safe to say ticket-holders for Zach's upcoming Quittin’ Time tour will be hoping he inserts it into his setlist.

Having said this, it looks like we might have to wait a little longer before getting a live debut of ’Sandpaper’. Zach shared his prospective 2024 setlist yesterday (Wednesday, January 24th) in a since-deleted post, and the new track was nowhere to be found.

Nonetheless, fans were excited to see other unreleased songs included, such as ‘Great American Bar Scene’ and ‘Better Days’, which suggests they'll feature on his next album.

For the full lyrics so far to Zach Bryan's ‘Sandpaper’, see below:

“The shape you take when you lay like that

Reminds me of a love I've never had

If loving's wrong then what's a boy to do

I ain't scared of death but I'm scared of losing you

You ain't out of my league, you're out of this planet

But dammit if you ain't drilled inside my skull

Take a trip uptown

To clear you out of my mind

You're like sandpaper

The more I try you bind”
