Zach Bryan has announced Levi Turner as the first signing to his label imprint, Belting Brono Records. The news coincides with the release of Turner's debut album, Allergy Season, which has been released in tandem with Zach's Belting Bronco and Columbia Records.
In a post shared across his socials, the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker emphasised his excitement at being able to introduce fans to Levi Turner's music, “the first artist we’ve ever signed on Belting Bronco released a record today. A man who still writes all his own songs and an artist I’ve grown to respect and care for as a person”.
Although Levi Turner may not yet be a household name, it seems country and Americana fans should be keeping a close watch on the up-and-coming artist's ascent - especially now that he has Zach Bryan's impassioned stamp of approval.
Turner's new project, Allergy Season, is underpinned by a refreshingly stripped-back, rustic feel, which will remind some listeners of Zach's own trademark under-produced sound.
Nonetheless, Turner conveys his own distinctive style and lyricism that feels grounded in the modern alt-country and folk scene, while at the same time carrying a sense of nostalgia, serving in many ways as an homage to the revered storytellers of decades past.
Particular highlights on Allergy Season include the uptempo ‘Breathe’ and the introspective title-track, both of which feature Turner's conversational vocals spread gently across understated instrumentation.
Although Zach Bryan's announcement will have been the initial catalyst to send swathes of fans to Levi Turner's Spotify page, it seems Allergy Season will keep them coming back for the foreseeable future.
