Thursday night (June 20), Zach Bryan and Jason Isbell proved they were Kings of Michigan at least for a moment.
Sometime during Bryan's headlining showcase at Detroit's Ford Field, at which the 400 Unit frontman acted as support, the two country heavyweights paired up for a surprising duet of Isbell's Weathervanes opus, 'King of Oklahoma.' In fan captured videos, the duo can be seen roaring the emotive tune, named for Bryan's homestate.
For much of 2024, Bryan has been criss-crossing North America on his The Quittin Time Tour with support from acts like Isbell, Turnpike Troubadours, Sheryl Crow, Sierra Ferrell and more in tow. The 'Something in the Orange' star has been teasing a trove of new music along the way, tunes that will likely appear on the artist's upcoming album, The Great American Bar Scene.
It was most recently announced that the project will arrive in full on July 4.
Until then, the artist has handpicked 23 bars across the country to host listening parties of the album beforehand, revealing on social media: “My intent with all this is to give everyone an early glimpse of this album, but more importantly this is in the spirit of bringing people together for a memorable moment."
He continued, “As much as I'd kill to play all these timeless bars, it won't be possible. I will be visiting a few off the list to have a drink with ya'll."
