A matter of hours after his sentence was announced for his April chair-throwing incident, Morgan Wallen has received four coveted 2024 Billboard Music Awards, with the Sneedville megastar paying tribute to his loyal fanbase during his acceptance speech.
Via a pre-recorded message, the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker expressed his gratitude for how his listeners are willing to embrace his penchant for experimenting with different styles and genres.
For instance, Morgan Wallen's latest single, ‘Love Somebody’, explores novel Latin textures, while his 2024 Moneybagg Yo link-up ‘WHISKEY WHISKEY’, is full-blown trap.
Nonetheless, Morgan always makes an effort to keep his original country-centric listenership happy with traditional-leaning offerings such as ‘Everything I Love’ and ‘98 Braves’.
The ‘865’ singer-songwriter began, “What's going on, Billboard Music Awards? It's Morgan Wallen here. I just wanted to say thank you guys for everyone who's supported me along my journey, and as always, most importantly, thank you to my fans”.
He expanded, “You guys have just given me so much freedom to make music that I wanna make, whether it's a song that sounds similar to something that I've put out in the past, or whether it's something that's completely different, you guys have always just at least given it a chance, and that's all I can ask for. I really just want to say thank you guys for being that way with my music. I hope I can come back next year and accept some more, but for now, I really appreciate it. God bless”.
Morgan Wallen took home the prestigious gongs for Top Male Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist and Top Collaboration, with the latter recognising the immense popularity of his chart-topping Post Malone duet, ‘I Had Some Help’.
In achieving the 2024 Top Country Artist accolade, Morgan Wallen has now tied Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks for the most wins in this category in Billboard Music Award history. Each of these country trailblazers have triumphed three times.
The Billboard Music Awards have blossomed into one of the most highly respected ceremonies in recent years, due to their statistics-based approach to judging winners, with the BBMAs championing streaming data, digital sales and radio airplay.
Morgan Wallen's 2024 Billboard Music Awards success follows his array of victories at the 2023 ceremony, during which the ‘I Wrote The Book’ crooner scored a whopping 11 gongs.
