Eric Church’s nonprofit foundation, Chief Cares, has just ‘broken ground’ on its first project, Blue Haven, which will house families that have been displaced by Hurricane Helene.
“The land we stand on today sits in the heart of a county that has meant so much to me,” the ‘Hands of Time’ singer-songwriter shared in a touching message, “this is a place my family and I are proud to call home…Mountain people, my people.”
Located in Avery County, North Carolina, Blue Haven will offer roughly 45 new homes for those in need. “This is truly a hand up, not a handout,” Church said about the core values of the project. Designed to support families and maintain communities, Blue Haven will support selected homes financially for three years, after which they will be given the option to buy their home, with Chief Cares supporting them along the way.
The ‘Springsteen’ singer has supported the North Carolina aids by releasing ‘Darkest Hour’ last October, with all royalties donated directly to those affected by the disaster, as well as via his Concert For Carolina with Luke Combs, which is estimated to have raised over $24 million for the cause. Now, ‘Blue Haven’ serves as a sustainable solution to help those still struggling long after the immediate impact of the crisis. Work has now began and families are expected to move in by late summer 2025.
