"We Could Cancel Each Other. That's How Close We Are": Carly Pearce Dishes on Longtime Friendship with Kelsea Ballerini

During a new interview with Katie from the Girls in Low Places Podcast and Holler, country star Carly Pearce touches on everything from her new deluxe album to her brief marriage to artist Michael Ray. She even delved into her longtime friendship with fellow powerhouse Kelsea Ballerini.

“I mean, truthfully, we could end each other's careers, I think at this point, if we really wanted to," Pearce told the podcast host. "We could cancel each other. That's how close we are."

Their friendship can be traced back to the early days of their respective careers and has been going strong ever since.

"When I was just starting out, I didn't have a record deal yet, she took me on the road," the artist explained of opening up for the young Ballerini over a decade ago. "[Her dog] Dibs was out. She was a baby artist, but she had the thought, and I've carried it with me as I've had female artists like opening for me."

Pearce touched on her friend's generosity in those days, remarking on her willingness to help and uplift fellow female acts, something she, herself, has tried to do in her own career.

She shared, "I was driving a 15 passenger van with my band in it, and a U-Haul in the back of our equipment. I was so tired, and she's like, 'Is that what you're coming in?' And I was like, 'Yeah, we don’t have bus.' And she was like, 'No, you're sleeping on my bus tonight and going to the next show so that you have proper sleep.'"

From that moment on, the two stars have only grown closer, their friendship becoming a shelter from the storm and a soft place to land.

"She's truly one of the kindest people in the world," Pearce gushed. "She was the first person that I told that I'd filed for divorce. That is why she then called me when she was filing. So we had a weird, like, kind of spirit in that."

Whether they're sharing a bottle of wine or just basking in each others' success, Carly and Kelsea will forever be friendship goals.
