Post Malone's brilliance as an artist always seems to be heightened by how casually he can impress. The latest example of this was in the low-key surroundings of the Hog Wallow Pub in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, with Post offering up an enchanting and seemingly impromptu acoustic cover of George Strait's iconic hit, ‘The Fireman’.

Donning his signature crimped trucker cap and brandishing his trusty guitar, Post Malone serenaded onlookers from the mostly empty outdoor seating of the local watering hole.

The fact that there don't appear to have been many viewers there once again underlines what makes Post's foray into country music so endearing - he clearly just loves the genre, and will happily perform a classic Strait song, even if it's just him and a guitar.

Although the ‘Chemical’ hitmaker has often drenched his voice in Auto-Tune and atmospheric reverb on his earlier material, videos like this highlight how Post Malone has always possessed a stellar set of vocals that feel perfectly suited to country music.

Post Malone's charismatic rasp and playful delivery combines with the uptempo strum of his guitar, to capture the tongue-in-cheek braggadocio that pervades Strait's 1984 original. It's not the first time he's paid homage to the King of Country by covering this track, with Post performing an electric rendition of ‘The Fireman’ at Outside Lands Music Festival at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in August.

The bearded maverick has covered Strait on a slew of other occasions, playing ‘Carrying Your Love With Me’ at that same Outside Lands show, as well as delivering it at Stagecoach and his CMA Fest Spotify House performance at Blake Shelton's Ole Red bar.

The ‘I Had Some Help’ singer-songwriter has called Cottonwood Heights, Utah home for a number of years now, with Post Malone citing this as a quieter, more private refuge where he can recharge, compared to the always-on glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

This particular appearance at the beloved Hog Wallow Pub came shortly after he was seen attending the Utah Hockey Club's match against the Dallas Stars at the Delta Center.

Post Malone is currently on a brief hiatus from performing, with the bearded crooner set to headline San Diego's Wild Horses Festival at the end of December, before embarking on The Big Ass Stadium Tour 2025 with Jelly Roll and Sierra Ferrell.
