There is perhaps no higher honor in country music than earning a place in the Grand Ole Opry family and getting invited into the fold is no easy feat. But on Tuesday (Feb. 20), Grammy-nominated artist T Graham Brown was called up to join the ranks of some of country music’s greatest.

The invitation came by way of Vince Gill, who appeared as a guest for a taping of Brown’s SiriusXM show “Live Wire”. In front of a live studio audience, Gill informed the ‘I Tell It Like It Used To Be’ star of the honor.

“Awww, man. That’s amazing, Vince,” an emotional Brown responded. “Oh my goodness. Please tell me you’re not kidding me. This is the greatest thing. You don’t know what that means to me. I so wanted this; you just don’t know. I’m so proud of the Opry. I’m just so proud to be there every time. I’ve never taken it for granted. It’s just amazing".

Gill confirmed: “They love you. That’s a special place, and you’ll be a valued part of that place. I didn’t mean to make you cry. Congratulations!”

Since the 1980s, Brown has been a hitmaker, with more than 20 of his singles having earned positions on the Hot Country charts, many of them peaking in the Top 10 and some, like 'Hell and High Water', 'Don't Go to Strangers' and 'Darlene', reaching No. 1. He has toured extensively throughout his career, garnered a number of accolades in that time and appeared on the Opry stage more than 300 times. He will soon step into that hallowed circle again; this time as a full-fledged member.

“T Graham Brown feels like family every single time he walks through the backstage doors of the Grand Ole Opry House,” said Dan Rogers, Opry executive producer. “He adds a special spirit and a great performance to every Opry show he’s part of. It’s not lost on me that immediately after having been invited to join the Opry at the SiriusXM studios, within minutes he was on the road to the Opry for yet another performance, adding to his 300+ count of Opry appearances”.

The exact date of Brown’s induction into the Grand Ole Opry is still to be announced, but the “Live Wire” episode featuring the career-high will debut Wednesday, April 6 at 10 p.m. ET on SiriusXM’s Prime Country channel.
