Powerhouse husband and wife duo The War & Treaty nearly blew the roof off the Ryman Auditorium with their explosive performance of 'Stretch Out' during the 2023 Americana Honors & Awards.
The chemistry between Michael and Tanya Trotter is always second to none, but add in the three surviving members of the legendary McCrary Sisters — Ann, Regina and Alfreda — and you’re left with pure bliss.
Such was the case during the wild Wednesday night showing that brought the spirit of the Mother Church of Country Music to life, shaking and stirring people within the venue’s iconic pews with a joyous frenzy.
Despite the high octane nature of their rendition, 'Stretch Out' wasn’t the duo’s biggest highlight of the night. Later into the ceremony the Trotter’s were recognized as Duo/Group of the Year, beating out names like 49 Winchester, Caamp, Nickel Creek and Plains.
It’s the second straight year The War & Treaty have won the award and their third overall at the Americana Honors & Awards, the first being named as Emerging Artist of the Year in 2019.
Other artists taking home hardware throughout the night included Bonnie Raitt, Tyler Childers, Billy Strings, S.G. Goodman and Sistastrings.
