The duo of Sistastrings has taken home the award for the Americana Music Association's 2023 Instrumentalist of the Year.
The sibling duo of Chauntee and Monique Ross are best known for serving in Brandi Carlile's touring band, as well as Allison Russell and Brandy Clark.
"We're in the Mother Church so we gotta preach just a little bit!" The sisters shared, "Our parents were pastors and they raised us always talking about manifesting things and working hard. Our grandfather would say, 'Pray on it and just say thank you.'"
They added, "We have been speaking on our careers and talking about our goals together. We've worked hard and manifested this, and it feels so amazing!"
Sistastrings was joined in the Instrumentalist category by Isa Burke, Allison De Groot, Jeff Picker and Kyle Tuttle.
The Instrumentalist of the Year category was one of the many awards bestowed at the 22nd Annual Americana Honors & Awards, which included wins from Billy Strings, Tyler Childers, The War and Treaty, Bonnie Raitt and S.G. Goodman.
The evening also featured an awe-inspiring collection of performances from the best and brightest in Americana.
Among them were Brandy Clark and Brandi Carlile, Margo Price, Holler favorites 49 Winchester and a surprise tribute to Paul Simon from Noah Kahan and the Milk Carton Kids.
