Sierra Ferrell has debuted a brand new song during her 2023 Holler Live Session, entitled ‘Making My Way’. The track is expected to feature on Ferrell's follow-up to 2021's Long Time Coming.
As part of the West Virginia native's Holler Live Session, which was recorded during her recent appearance at Railbird Festival, the up-and-coming artist delivered a stellar rendition of two stand-out tracks from Long Time Coming, ‘Bells Of Every Chapel’ and ‘Silver Dollar’, along with the previously unheard song, ‘Making My Way’.
Sierra Ferrell introduced ‘Making My Way’ by explaining, “I'm gonna play you a brand new song, and this one is not out yet and it's probably not even finished”, before going on to tease that we “might hear it in a different arrangement in the future”.
Across a gentle, meandering acoustic guitar, Ferrell croons longingly as she pines for her absent partner, “I'm making my way back to you, my love / I'm singing you into my arms”.
Although, as Ferrell emphasised, it looks like we won't be getting a studio version of ‘Making My Way’ just yet, it's another exciting hint that her upcoming album is already in the works.
Recently, the ‘In Dreams’ singer-songwriter teased a blockbuster collaboration with Zach Bryan. It's not clear whether this will be featuring on Zach's new album, or whether it will make its way onto the tracklist for Sierra Ferrell's project.
Either way, we'll gladly take new music from Sierra Ferrell in any shape or form, and her Holler Live Session performance of ‘Making My Way’ has certainly whetted fans’ appetites for her sophomore record.
