Sierra Ferrell has teamed up with her fellow Appalachian musician, Brooks Forsyth, for a special rendition of a Doc Watson classic.
As they sat inside the rustic, homely Sacred Dog Ranch, the two alt-country artists put their own spin on Watson's lively Western Swing song, ‘Deep River Blues’.
Forsyth, an emerging artist from North Carolina, takes the lead. Ferrell's sinuous harmonies combine with Forsyth's steady, charismatic vocals to produce a captivating rendition of Watson's hit song.
Ferrell also showcases her multi-instrumental skills, with the West Virginia native playing the quirky ‘singing saw’ throughout the track.
It remains to be seen whether the duo will make ‘Deep River Blues’ available to stream, but for the time being, it's been released as a YouTube exclusive via Forsyth's page.
Fans will be hoping that this new acoustic cover is a hint that Ferrell's creative juices are flowing, and that she'll soon be recording the follow-up to her acclaimed 2021 project, Long Time Coming.
