Post Malone continued his blockbuster foray into country music with a steel-soaked performance of what appears to be a new unreleased song, ’Never Love You Again’, before delivering a stellar, high-energy performance of his latest single, ‘I Had Some Help’.
Fans were assuming Post Malone would only perform the latter, but excitingly, the bearded crooner decided to treat attendees to a brand new unreleased song with ’Never Love You Again’. Any disappointment at the fact that Post Malone's ‘I Had Some Help’ collaborator, Morgan Wallen, didn't make a surprise appearance was eased by this coveted sneak preview into Posty's forthcoming album.
The traditional-leaning ambience will delight those who had been hoping Posty would experiment with a classic country sound, as well as delving into the more mainstream ambience of ’I Had Some Help’. After showcasing his stellar vocals with the intricate composition of ‘Never Love You Again’, Post Malone launched into his current single.
Posty brought trademark effervescence, charismatic stage presence and carefree, playful swagger to the Ford Center stage, with the ‘Chemical’ hitmaker showcasing exactly why so many country fans are excited about his entry into the genre.
Endearingly, following his performance, Reba McEntire invited Posty to perform a touching tribute to Dickey Betts, who passed away in April. The duo delivered a sparse cover of The Allman Brothers Band's iconic track, ‘Ramblin’ Man’, which Betts penned.
His electrifying set will have only intensified the sense of anticipation ahead of Post Malone's debut country album, which is expected to arrive this year. With this in mind, the New York singer-songwriter could well be a contender for the 2025 Music Event of the Year for ‘I Had Some Help’ and perhaps even Male Artist of the Year too.
After dropping - at long last - on May 10th, ‘I Had Some Help’ has rapidly established itself as one of the most viral releases of 2024 so far, with the infectious track currently en route to debut at No. 1 on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK chart.
Other performers on the packed 2024 ACM Awards bill included Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Noah Kahan and Kelsea Ballerini, Nate Smith and Avril Lavigne and more. The star-studded ceremony returned to the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas for the second year in a row, with proceedings hosted by country icon, Reba McEntire.
