Post Malone has dialled up the sense of anticipation yet again ahead of his new album, F-1Trillion, by delivering a joyous Outside Lands 2024 set packed with with country covers.
Posty treated the crowd to a playful, light-hearted rendition of Luke Combs‘ iconic single, ’When It Rains It Pours’, which dropped as part of his debut album, This One's For You, with the raucous, high-energy track sparking an audience-wide sing-a-long.
The moment was made sweeter by the fact that Post Malone has collaborated with Luke twice on F-1Trillion for ‘Guy For That’ and ’Missin’ You Like This’, with his ‘When it Rains It Pours’ cover a heartfelt homage to both a country legend and a close friend. As always, Posty looked as though he was enjoying the experience as much as anyone, endearingly donning an ear-to-ear smile in-between each track.
In addition, the ‘Chemical’ singer-songwriter brought out ‘90s country trailblazer, David Lee Murphy, for a rousing take on the latter's romantic 1994 classic, ‘Dust on the Bottle’.
As we learned at Post Malone's Stagecoach Festival set earlier this year, the New York native loves a special guest, with Posty also bringing out Diamond Rio's Jimmy Olander to help him perform the band's much-loved single, ‘This Romeo Ain't Got Julie Yet’.
The only slight disappointment in this spectacular performance was that Post Malone didn't play ‘Pour Me a Drink’ or ‘Guy For That’, both of which feature on F-1Trillion. Posty's sole non-cover was ‘I Had Some Help’, and this multi-week Hot 100 No. 1 undoubtedly drew the biggest reaction from the crowd. It ensured the momentum was sky-high heading into his final song of the night, a cover of the late Toby Keith's patriotic anthem, ‘Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)’.
In addition, Post Malone covered an array of his personal favourites, ranging from Tyler Childers’ ‘Feathered Indians’ and Tim McGraw's ‘Just to See You Smile’ to George Strait's ‘Carrying Your Love with Me’ and Brooks & Dunn's ‘Brand New Man’.
Post Malone's debut country album, F-1Trillion, arrives this Friday (August 16), with the star-studded guest-list including Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, Tim McGraw, Sierra Ferrell, Billy Strings, Hank Williams Jr., ERNEST and more.
