After the country music world spent the vast majority of the weekend jamming to Post Malone and Blake Shelton's addictive new anthem, ‘Pour Me a Drink’, the duo have now treated us to the official music video for the infectious, feel-good collaboration.
‘Pour Me a Drink’ serves as the second single from Post Malone's forthcoming country album, F-1Trillion, following his star-studded Morgan Wallen duet, ‘I Had Some Help’, which arrived in May and recently scored a fifth week atop the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
The newly unveiled visuals capture the fun-loving, stress-relieving ambience of ‘Pour Me a Drink’, with Posty and Blake throwing what looks to be the coolest tailgate party of all time. It begins with Posty attempting to buy a beer from a gas station, with Blake playing the cashier, before Blake slides his coins back towards him and guides him towards a Bud Light-adorned portal to an alcohol-drenched lakeside party.
Post Malone happily obliges, with the music video concluding with cashier-Blake breaking Posty's fantastical reverie, as we return to the gas station with a jolt - alas, it was all a dream.
Each scene is awash with Bud Light - widely known to be Post Malone's drink of choice - with the two chart-toppers singing to the camera as it pans across the jovial summer celebration. As well as featuring his beloved Bud Light in almost every shot, the music video for ‘Pour Me a Drink’ finds Posty alternating between the white and blue home and away jerseys of his favourite NFL team - the Dallas Cowboys.
During one particularly endearing moment in the video, as Post Malone sings, “I think I might've found my future love”, Blake Shelton nudges his pal and points in the direction of a woman making eyes at him, crooning, “Buddy, you should probably buy her one”.
As is the case with the track itself, the warmth of Post Malone and Blake Shelton's friendship radiates throughout, with the duo lacing a sense of playfulness and swagger into every syllable of ‘Pour Me a Drink’. Through this levity, Posty and Blake ensure the vibes remain immaculate as the party transitions from day into night.
The music video feels reminiscent of the party-starting atmosphere of 2010s country hits from the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan - and indeed Blake Shelton himself. As a result, ‘Pour Me a Drink’ hints that Post Malone's new album, which drops on August 16th, will explore a range of eras and sub-genres within country.
Posty has teased a range of tracks ahead of his debut country album, with some leaning towards a traditional, George Strait-esque feel (‘Never Love You Again’) as well as comparatively pop-infused offerings (’I Ain't Got a Guy For That’ with Luke Combs).
