Noah Kahan season is fast approaching. Well, in all honesty, you could say Noah Kahan season started in September in tandem with the Fall, because that's when we all started jamming to Stick Season again for the third year on the bounce.

What we mean is that Noah's album is finally on the horizon, after three long years of deluxes, reimagined collaborations and live renditions, but no original full-length project.

Now, thankfully, it seems all that waiting is about to come to an end. Shortly after confirming via an Instagram Live session that his new album is officially “finished”, fans noticed that a mysterious secret TikTok account, seemingly belonging to Noah, had been set up. The account is called @thelastofthebugs, a reference to the Vermont native's much-loved Stick Season track, ‘The View Between The Villages’.

The only video currently on that TikTok account is a clip of Noah in the snow, with an unreleased song playing in the background, as the words on-screen read, “you weren't supposed to find this...only the last of the bugs ever do”. In the caption, Noah drops the lyric that precedes “As the last of the bugs / Leave their homes again” in ’The View Between The Villages’: “Air in my lungs / ‘Til the road begins’”.

What's more, Noah has also changed the link in his Instagram bio to this: noahkahan.lnk.to/comingsoon - and the “coming soon” addition has sent fans into a frenzy.

So what does this all mean?! Well, there are a number of different theories flooding in about the specifics, but one thing is for sure - Noah's album rollout is picking up pace.

It's fascinating that the ‘Northern Attitude’ singer-songwriter has decided to use ‘The View Between The Villages’ so heavily in the teasers for his next album. Given the fact that this is the final track on Stick Season, some fans are wondering if this means ‘The View Between The Villages’ doubles up as an introduction to the new project, or perhaps more accurately, an ‘interlude’ or ‘bridge’ between eras.

The subject matter of the haunting track definitely makes sense for this, because it finds Noah reflecting on the challenges and emotional strain that comes with leaving your hometown to make a life of your own, while still feeling a yearning to return. It captures the essence of Stick Season, with the album celebrating the cosiness and familiarity of Noah's hometown on some songs, before angrily lambasting the mundanity and painful memories that come with this on others.

Could The Last Of The Bugs be the title of Noah's new album? It's definitely possible, but given it's a lyric from his previous project, we think he'll go for something brand new.

We all know that Noah has been teasing a lot of new music over the past few years, and he could make an entire album based on the unreleased songs he's teased alone. In his latest Instagram Live, for instance, he shared some more unreleased material, including songs titled ‘Staying Still’ and ‘Headed North’, as well as ‘Spoiled’.

We've heard the latter before, along with other unreleased fan-favourites that have made their way into his setlist in the past, such as ‘The Great Divide’, ‘Pain is Cold Water’, ‘Deny, Deny, Deny’, ‘All Them Horses’, ‘Nothing to Report’ and ‘Pain Eater’.

Either way, we can't wait to hear what Noah has up his sleeve. And with the weather turning colder and the Stick Season vibes well underway, we're keeping everything crossed that the folk titan might drop his next album before the year is out...
