Previously unseen footage has surfaced of Morgan Wallen spending time with Kid Rock the day after Wallen's infamous arrest in 2020 for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

The arrest took place outside of Kid Rock's Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N' Roll Steakhouse in Nashville, with Wallen and Kid Rock sharing a photo together the next day to show there were no hard feelings over the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper's arrest.

Now, respected documentarian Adam Bhala Lough has shared footage of Wallen and Kid Rock from that day, with Lough explaining that he's had this in his vault for years. Lough has made a host of stellar films, like Lil Wayne's The Carter Documentary.

In the clip, Wallen can be heard singing Keith Whitley's iconic song, ’Kentucky Bluebird’, as Kid Rock looks on. It's an off-the-cuff moment, but Wallen's vocals sound incredible as he takes on the Whitley classic. The Sneedville native has spoken in the past about his reverence for Whitley, and even interpolated the country legend's songs on ‘Miami’ and ‘Keith Whitley’. We're desperately hoping we one day get a full cover of a Whitley song from Wallen - ideally ‘Kentucky Bluebird’.

In the caption, Lough explains the context behind the video, “FROM MY VAULT: Morgan Wallen singing Keith Whitley’s Kentucky bluebird in Nashville on May 24, 2020”.

The documentarian goes on, “What’s interesting about this footage is that Morgan had just been arrested the night before in downtown Nashville and released from jail early that morning, later that day he’s sitting here singing Keith Whitley”.

Lough concludes by admitting he's had this brief video locked away for many years, “I’ve had this footage sitting in my vault for over six years figured it was time to share it”.

It's not really clear whether Lough has this footage because he was, at one point, working on a film about Morgan Wallen. There have been rumblings for years now about a potential documentary exploring the ‘Love Somebody’ singer-songwriter's ascent into one of the biggest country stars of the 21st century, as well as touching on the various controversies that have punctuated Wallen's ascent.

We'd love to see a documentary on Wallen in the style of Lainey Wilson's Keepin’ Country Cool and Noah Kahan's Out of Body, both of which were released via Netflix.

But we're also not sure whether Wallen would want such an invasive examination of his life, especially given how private the ‘Whiskey Glasses’ hitmaker is.

He rarely gives interviews, which would make a documentary feel all the more exclusive and insightful, but it also makes a film of this kind feel unlikely at this point in his career.

We're hopeful, though, that Netflix - or another platform - is able to entice Wallen and his camp with the idea for a potential documentary. Either way, Lough's new clip is a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at the aftermath of Wallen's 2020 arrest, as well serving as a reminder of how effortlessly brilliant his vocals are.
