Nashville’s Exit/In music venue is up for sale, as it marks its 50th anniversary.

The venue has hosted such stars as Waylon Jennings, R.E.M. and more recently Luke Combs.

Exit/In's future was already uncertain due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now entering its 50th year of operation, the venue has been a popular destination for touring acts from Talking Heads to Lucinda Williams, as well as hosting homegrown artists from the city’s country, rock and Americana scenes.

Developers have bought and built in the surrounding areas of the club which is situated on Nashville’s ‘Rock Block’.

The club’s potential sale also includes the adjacent bar Hurry Back, both of which are owned and operated by Chris Cobb.

Cobb has engaged the development company Grubb Properties in an arrangement that would allow them to purchase the property outright from its current owners through a “Live Venue Recovery Fund”.

Kip Moore has voiced his concerns over the potential closure of the iconic venue saying, “This one hurt. Legendary spot about to be a damn smoothie king before we blink”.

This latest news follows previous high profile battles within Nashville between developers and those wishing to protect the city’s musical heritage.
