The iconic Nashville music venue, Exit/In, has been forced to close following a number of attempts to save it. Over the course of 51 years, Exit/In has hosted performances from country heavyweights such as Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett, Waylon Jennings, Luke Combs and more.

The owners of Exit/In, Telisha and Chris Cobb, announced the news via social media, stating that, “There have been too many incredible moments to count over the 18 years we've stewarded Exit/In. It's an incredibly special place that we are so fortunate to have been a part of”.

Numerous figures within the industry have voiced concerns in recent times regarding the future of Exit/In, which has been a staple of Nashville's famous ‘Rock Block’ for over half a century.

In 2021, following unprecedented challenges during the pandemic, a GoFundMe page was set up in a bid to keep Exit/In independent. This received over 4,000 donations, which Telisha and Cobb have confirmed will now be donated to MVAN and NIVA.

In their statement, the owners highlighted their fears that this closure is part of a broader post-pandemic pattern in Music City, underlining that, "We love this city wholeheartedly but are not ok with many current trends here. We know Nashville needs Exit/In and independent venues like it to continue supporting our community of artists, musicians, and the entire ecosystem they center".

The pandemic placed immense pressure on the live music industry, the after-effects of which are still being faced by many venues both in Nashville and further afield. For Exit/In, this pressure has proved unbearable.
