After being dislodged by Jason Aldean's ‘Try That In A Small Town’ and Jung Kook and Latto's ‘Seven’ over the past couple of weeks, Morgan Wallen's ‘Last Night’ has returned to the top spot on the Hot 100.
In doing so, the beat-driven track has tied the record set by Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ as the longest-running No. 1 solo song in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.
Both have now spent fifteen nonconsecutive weeks atop the all-genre chart, with Wallen's ‘Last Night’ widely expected to retain its position at No. 1 for more frames to come. This would take ‘Last Night’ past ‘As It Was’ as the longest-running No. 1 solo song ever on the Hot 100.
In July, the Sneedville megastar's streaming behemoth became the first song ever to rack up one billion streams in a year, with ‘Last Night’ continuing to establish itself as the most popular song from Wallen's acclaimed 2023 album, One Thing At A Time.
Luke Combs’ much-loved Tracy Chapman cover, ’Fast Car’, once again plays second fiddle to Morgan Wallen's ‘Last Night’ on this week's Billboard Hot 100, with the North Carolina singer-songwriter hoping to pick up his first ever No. 1 on the chart in the coming weeks.
Both Wallen and Combs were able to see off stiff competition from Travis Scott and Drake's fiery Utopia collaboration, ‘MELTDOWN’, which some were tipping for the No. 1 spot this week.
Morgan Wallen will be hoping his latest single at Country Radio, ‘Everything I Love’, will emulate the record-breaking success of ’Last Night’. It undoubtedly has gigantic shoes to fill, but the traditional, uptempo song is currently working its way up the Mediabase Country Radio chart, and will most likely enter the Top Ten in the next week or so.
