During his blockbuster double-header at Michigan Stadium - aka ‘The Big House’ - this past weekend, Morgan Wallen revealed that his next chapter of music is taking shape.

While introducing his brand new single, ‘Been By Now’, which was released on Friday, July 24th, Wallen explained that he plans to craft his next body of work around that song.

Excitingly, the Sneedville native also confirmed he's been in the studio making “a lot” of new music, and we're hoping Wallen will start teasing fresh material in the coming weeks.

While chatting to the crowd on Friday in-between songs, Wallen reflected, “It's a big day for me, not only because we're playing at The Big House, but I also released a song today”.

The ‘Love Somebody’ singer-songwriter went on, “It's a little bittersweet, because as we get close to the end of this tour, kind of the end of...this album's era, I guess you could say...I ain't really sure exactly what I'm gonna do next, but I do know that I've been in the studio, I've been making a lot of music. I'm excited about it”.

Wallen went on to stress that, while there are still some question marks surrounding his follow-up album to I'm the Problem, which arrived back in May 2025, the country titan is sure that ‘Been By Now’ will be a cornerstone, “I don't know, the day that we wrote this song, I just kind of had a good feeling about it, and I wanted to based a lot of my next stuff around it. So I'm glad this day is here finally, and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. It's called, ‘Been by Now’”.

It comes just weeks after Charlie Handsome, one of Wallen's go-to producers alongside Joey Moi, revealed in an interview that he envisions the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker delving deeper into the mainstream space, so he can achieve Pop Radio No. 1s.

There's no question that ‘Been By Now’ explores a similarly breezy, synth-backed and pop-leaning aesthetic to songs like ’Love Somebody’, ‘What I Want’ and ‘I Got Better’. Judging by Wallen's comments here, while he solidifies what his next album will look like, it seems we can expect more genre-blurring, pop-driven offerings. Few artists are able to blend textures from country, pop, hip-hop, trap, EDM and indie-rock as seamlessly and effectively as Wallen, so we're excited to hear the ‘Thought You Should Know’ crooner continue to broaden his horizons.
