New shots have surfaced of Morgan Wallen in seemingly recent studio sessions, with the clips arriving as part of a new Morgan Wallen Radio advertisement on SiriusXM.

Interspersed with videos of Wallen performing live, we see him appearing to be working on new music in the studio while donning his signature camo hunting gear and Norris Bear cap. We see him wandering around a studio and singing into a microphone.

As some fans have pointed out, given how hot it's been in Nashville this week and the fact that Wallen is wearing a puffer vest and a long-sleeve t-shirt in the photos, it feels like these studio shots aren't super recent shots by any means. But they certainly seem to be from Wallen's post-I'm the Problem era of working on new music, which has us feeling hopeful that his follow-up project is finally on the horizon.

The ‘Last Night’ chart-topper tends to leave roughly two-year gaps in-between his albums, and 2027 will mark two years since he released his record-breaking project, I'm the Problem.

Wallen confirmed during his Michigan show this summer that, although he's still not 100% clear on what his next record will look like, he's been spending plenty of time in the studio working on new material, “It's a little bittersweet, because as we get close to the end of this tour, kind of the end of...this album's era, I guess you could say...I ain't really sure exactly what I'm gonna do next, but I do know that I've been in the studio, I've been making a lot of music. I'm excited about it”.

He also shared at that same show that he's building this era around ‘Been By Now’, “I don't know, the day that we wrote this song, I just kind of had a good feeling about it, and I wanted to based a lot of my next stuff around it. So I'm glad this day is here finally, and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. It's called, ‘Been by Now’”.

Given how ‘Been By Now’ explores the pop-infused, synth-backed aesthetic of I'm the Problem staples like ‘Love Somebody’, it seems Wallen is doubling down on his experimentation with other genres as he attempts to continue to broaden his reach.

Wallen's producer, Charlie Handsome, revealed in an interview back in July that he envisions the country titan venturing further into the pop arena, outlining in a candid interview, “I'll say this. One of my goals moving forward is for Morgan to be able to have No. 1 pop songs with no features. So even though his voice is definitely country, I feel like it could be the No. 1 song on Pop Radio. And obviously we did do that, but we did that with Post, who had done it before in that space”.

Handsome went on, “So I think, moving forward, I'm gonna merge more of the things that people could consider ‘pop’ and find a way to do that. But I don't know, there's a lot of things to it. There's a lot of things to it. What I try to do is not do the same thing twice, and that's where the challenge comes in, and every day in the studio, that is the challenge. It's like, how do I do something different today?”

Few artists are able to flit between such eclectic textures and sounds while still coming across as sincere and authentic in the way that Wallen can, with I'm the Problem blending an array of sub-genres, such as indie-rock, trap, Hip-Hop, country and more.

Whatever his next album will sound like, given how incredible I'm the Problem was, we're sure it'll be overflowing with No. 1 hits and certified Country Radio earworms. We're keeping our fingers crossed that these tantalising studio shots are a hint that Wallen has plenty more where ‘Been By Now’ came from before the year is out...
